He Shoots, He...Hits the Post! - NHL 15 on XBOX ONE Review

NHL 07, NHL 08, NHL 09, NHL 10, NHL 11 Are the last of the EA Sports NHL Series I owned, although I have been keeping up with the games after NHL 11 to 14 on XBOX 360.

Following a five year hiatus I decided to pick up the latest NHL game on the XBOX ONE. It wasn't available the previous year for whatever reason and with the increased amount of time EA had to work on it, I thought I was in for a treat.

My first impression of the game play was that it was rushed together. EA had over a year to put together a strong sports game and it feels like they pulled the goalie on this one.

The game is missing a lot of components. When I began with my Be a Pro in previous years I would start in the minor league system (Ontario Hockey League, American Hockey League) and work my way to the top to be drafted first overall. In NHL 15, your Be a Pro gets either randomly assigned to a team or you select a team. I do not see the fun in that!

The online portion of NHL 15 isn't much better either as you cannot play against someone online and have a guest signed into your console at the same time. The online play so far is one versus one. I have heard that team play is coming in October as part of a FREE DLC and I hope this fixes the issue. Many times in previous NHL games I would have my brother and cousins all signed into one console and playing anyone else online.

Beside some of the missing items in Be a Pro and the Online Play, NHL 15 is also missing EASHL which I didn't play before but many have said this was a deal breaker for them to not purchase the game.

Enough of the negatives. Visually the game is incredible and the playability also ranks up there which is boosting my overall score of the game. Throughout a match-up within the game you can feel the hit into the boards or you could be like me and feel like jumping out of your seat to celebrate a big goal. NHL 15 missed a few important things but overall delivered what I wanted from it and with this being the first in the series on XBOX ONE, I can grant it forgiveness this one time. 'Till next year though....

NHL 15 - 60% Features --- 90% Visuals --- 70% Achievement Variety --- 80% Playability --- Will it last on your play list for more than six months? Yes ---75% DP Overall Rating

Clockwork Tales of Glass and Ink (Xbox One) Review

Point and Click Games are typically seen on a desktop computer or even on a tablet and a smart phone. This time around Games Reviews received a code for Clockwork Tales of Glass and Ink available on Xbox One. The development team, Artifex Mundi, did not disappoint with this title. Clockwork Tales of Glass and Ink starts with the option to begin the game at a Normal difficulty or Expert. In order to unlock all of the achievements in one play through it is recommended to go through the game on Expert Difficulty. Expert Difficulty isn’t as hard as it sounds to get through. If you follow along and interact with every townsperson along with every interaction in the game you should be done with 100% completion of all achievements in about five to seven hours. If you speed through and don’t care to discover or interact with everything, you could finish in under five hours. The residence of our first chapter is Gottland. As we begin we learn the world of Gottland i...
