The Slithering Snake

Days of the Two Dimensional Snake eating pellet game are over but Sumo Digital created a game to bring back some love for the scaly serpent. Snake Pass is a very colorful, fully immersive, Three Dimensional Snake Platformer but this puzzle game is unlike many platform style games and it's available now on all new generation consoles - Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

This review was done using a review code provided by the developers for Xbox One.

Controls & Features

Snake Pass features countless secrets in the many levels you slither through. The game's controls are quite simple and at the same time requires the player to really think in a new way. There has to be some understanding of how snakes move and slither their way through the ground to get by quickly and efficiently. The main focus with controls for Snake Pass is to continuously move in an S pattern just as a real snake would maneuver. This form of movement will help with your speed and it helps when climbing or grasping around various objects and platforms to progress through the levels.

Audio/Visuals

On the Xbox One, Snake Pass looks incredibly polished. The visuals are crisp with bold, colorful backgrounds and platforms to get through. The angle of the Snake's perspective can be moved around to really visualize what it's like to slither through the dirt and grass and what it's really like to be a snake. Another great thing about Snake Pass' visuals is the ability to angle out the view the full background and foreground visuals.

Snake Pass delivers a great soundtrack and audio effects to immerse yourself in this fun, colorful platformer by Sumo Digital. From the sounds of slithers, to the rustling  of grass, to a splash in the water, to the fall of your snake off a cliff in the event of a massive mistake, Snake Pass delivers the sounds to this fun title.

Conclusion

Snake Pass is a very fun, and affordable platformer that really feels like a new kind of platform game. It's very simplistic yet a new form of thinking as you progress through the levels. Replaying each level is also an option if you're a fan of collectibles and it improves your skills for future levels to complete the game. With a colorful world of slithering fun, Snake Pass is not one to "pass" up.

Snake Pass is available now. You can download it here on Xbox One.
